What Will Happen This Month In The Premier League (November)

Well it’s certainly been an interesting start to the Premier League this year. Everyone bar Manchester City have taken a tonking so to speak. So bearing in mind it’s the start of November, it’s time for my ‘jokey’ predictions for what I think will ‘go down’ this month in the Premier League.

Chelsea will want to start the month well and forget October even happened. They ended the month losing back to back league games against London rivals QPR and Arsenal which has certainly put a strain on Andre Villas-Boas’s start to his reign at Stamford Bridge. Of course the bright Portugese manager has also had to put up with the ongoing John Terry race-scandal, but I’m tipping the Blues to start the month well with a win over Steve Kean’s Blackburn Rovers.

Bolton have had a wretched start to the season and clearly Owen Coyle is suffering with having a small squad to choose from at the moment. He clearly needs a good month as although I don’t think that the club’s owner Phil Gartside would sack the popular Scot, the pressure must be getting unbearable at the moment. It’s vital for Coyle that his team starts the month with a victory and I can see them beating Stoke City at the Reebok with Kevin Davies scoring once.

It would be fair to say that the ‘surprise’ team of the season so far have been Newcastle United. Magpie fans must be feeling that they’re in a dream at the moment as not only are the team playing well in all departments but they’re unbeaten and for once on Tyneside there are no negative stories coming out of the club at board-level. Alan Pardew’s side will lose twice this month to the two Manchester clubs, but they’ll have no problems beating Everton at home.

Speaking of the two Manchester clubs, United should beat Sunderland first up on what will be Sir Alex Ferguson’s big-day as the weekend will mark the Scot’s 25 years in charge at Old Trafford. Roberto Mancini’s side should have no problems at all beating QPR away first up but I can see them dropping points at Anfield at the end of the month to Liverpool and think that City might (and I hope so) just fall to their first defeat of the season there too.

As for Liverpool this will be a testing month for them. Kenny Dalglish’s side might have struggled at home to Norwich City last month but they should have no issues with beating another promoted side in Swansea at Anfield first up. Despite predicting the Reds to beat City at the end of the month, I can see them losing at Stamford Bridge the week beforehand and would be very surprised if Frank Lampard isn’t on the score-sheet in a home win. Fernando Torres won’t score though if you were wondering.

Spurs are a team that are flying at the moment and this month if Harry Redknapp’s side are to have any chance of getting a top-4 Champions League place, they will have to secure maximum points this month. Despite losing 4-0 at Fulham in the FA Cup last season, they should have enough fire-power to beat their old gaffer Martin Jol’s side and will beat Midlands duo Aston Villa and West Brom to end the month sitting in fourth position. Expect Gareth Bale to have a strong month scoring at least two goals.

Lastly down at the bottom, I can see the axe finally falling on Blackburn’s gritty manager Kean. The Scot has been labelled as a ‘Yes Man’ by anyone that knows anything to do with the Premier League and despite his pleas to be given time to get the ship that’s Rovers back on track he will be sacked after his side lose what will be the biggest ‘6-pointer’ of the season so far away to Roberto Martinez’s Wigan at the DW Stadium. As for his replacement it could be anybody.
