Manchester United’s Senegalese striker Mame Diouf has played down reports linking him with a move to Championship side Blackpool.
Diouf who spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, according to the rumour-mill has been targeted by Ian Holloway who is looking to bring the forward to the Seasiders to boost their promotion bid this coming season.
United’s number 32 has claimed on Sky Sports News that he wants to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford and that he has not heard of any interest at all from Blackpool:
“People are asking me about Blackpool, but no one’s spoken to me. It’s all just rumours.
“Right now I’m in America, not England.
“Of course I’d like to stay at Manchester United, everyone dreams about playing for this club.
“When I got a chance to be with them I always wanted to be here. I want to win trophies here.
“I’ll do my best, but we’ll see what happens after pre-season.”
To be fair to Diouf who is currently part of our squad out in America at the moment, all he can do is continue to impress when given the chance to. He has featured in both of our games out in America recently from the bench and scored United’s second early this morning in our 7-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders.
It shall be interesting to see if he is sent out on loan or sold permanently before the transfer window closes, as even if he doesn’t make it long-term at United he looks to have enough ability to succeed elsewhere in England.
