Gabriele Marcotti does not believe that Paul Pogba will be allowed to leave in the January window and doesn’t understand Jose Mourinho’s treatment of the Frenchman.
The manager was filmed saying something to the midfielder in training which got Pogba upset and the ESPN pundit was quoted by the Express as saying:
“To me, the broader issue here is ‘why is he doing this?’. Is he doing this to somehow force the club to choose between him and Pogba?
“That would seem odd since they can’t shift Pogba even if they wanted to until the summer at the very earliest. (Ed) Woodward has already said he doesn’t want to do that.”
Marcotti further claimed that this treatment of the midfielder is similar to how Luke Shaw was dealt with last season.
Mourinho often criticized the English left-back but that seems to have worked as the youngster is back in the starting XI this campaign.
“Is he trying to do the same with Pogba?
“I don’t know but to me this seems pretty extreme behaviour from a guy that has engaged in a lot of extreme behaviour in the past.”
The Frenchman hasn’t been at his best for Manchester United this season but was named the captain for a couple of games.
Mourinho then took away his vice-captain’s role recently and didn’t explain the decision.
The midfielder is one of our best players and we need him to play well for the rest of the season.

We have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and are struggling for form in the league too. This kind of treatment doesn’t work well for most players and hopefully, the player and manager can mend the fences and put in some quality performances.
