Jose Mourinho is ready to exploit AC Milan’s financial issues as he is willing to bid for Italian central defender Leonardo Bonucci, according to the Express.
The report suggests that the Italian giants have to raise £45m before the end of the transfer window and the 31-year-old central defender is a player they are willing to let go of.
The former Juventus man joined AC Milan only at the start of last season as they looked to begin a new era at the club. However, missing out on the Champions League was not the only problem for them as they have also been taken over by Investors Elliott Management.
Milan’s Chinese owners have not been able to repay a debt of €32m, which resulted in the take over from Elliot Management.
While Milan will certainly struggle should they have to sell their top players for the upcoming season, it is great news for Manchester United as we can raid the side for some of their top players.
Bonucci would be a great addition to the side given his experience and quality but at the age of 31, he might not be a long-term player for us.
We require some young blood in the heart of the defence, however, Bonucci would certainly improve our back-four, even if he is over 30.
The Italian did move from Juventus to Milan only last season and might prefer to stay in Italy but we should be looking at some of the other players at the club.
