Manchester Evening News has reported that Manchester United are considering a move for Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
The player, 21 years of age, is one of the most promising defenders in Europe and is constantly watched by European giants. The report says that the Old Trafford officials are already preparing for the next season and is considering a move for the talented center-back. Though he is not the sole target but being considered by a club of Manchester United’s stature is indeed flattering for the player.
The player’s agent Jorge Mendes, is in very good terms with Manchester United, specially Ed Woodward the vice chairman and this could make the deal happen with considerable ease if both the parties are willing. Laporte has a release clause of £32 million and Bilbao are likely to stick to that number given the interest the player has generated. Jorge Mendes is known to have worked with several superstars who has made in and out of Old Trafford and knows his way around the block.
