Berbatov, Dembele And Lloris Best Deals Of Transfer Deadline Day

So Moussa Dembele escaped our grasp lit up his debut with a classic goal at White Hart Lane. A rare talent lost to Manchester United after he was in our grasp, a clear sign of the limited funds in the Old Trafford kitty for new talent, in my opinion.

Otherwise the big moves were Hugo Lloris to Spurs and Dimitar Berbatov to Fulham.

Both look great deals to me, one of the worlds best keepers to Spurs and a 20 goal a season striker for £4m – what a bargain.

Manchester City bought Scott Sinclair for reasons that escape me. Releasing Adam Johnson and then replacing with a Swansea reserve player with one season of form in a lower league looks suspect. Richard Wright hardly backs up Joe Hart and the other 2 signings are long term projects. City have some of England’s best talent on the subs bench and that’s bad for the national team.

Liverpool look to have slipped further as Andy Carroll’s loan and Charlie Adam’s departure weakens an already weak attack. They are now surely at Everton level.

Arsenal have ended the window with a profit but that’s not why fans watch the team, nobody supports the bank account. They are seriously weaker in attack and defence. 4th is the best they can do now.

Stoke City again bought well, good players at the right price. I also think Fulham did ok despite losing their best player (I just can’t get over Dembele).

Chelsea look to have a good squad and will challenge this year but at the top, the gap opened and only 3 teams can win this league.

At the bottom Southampton spent a lot on a winger, we will see how wise that was. QPR have bought a new team and that’s a worry as Mark Hughes won’t know his best side, and Reading…oh boy are they doomed.

This window wasn’t one of big surprises but Luka Modric set off a chain reaction and Spurs spent it well.

None of these moves alter my end of season predictions as City will stroll to the title and Chelsea will fight us for 2nd.

Spurs might now beat out Arsenal for 4th now. That could be a big return on the Dembele deal.

I’m pretty sure Federico Macheda will go out on loan this week, and that’s good for him. Ashley Young’s injury will give Nani a chance again, and Wayne Rooney might just regain some fitness if he works hard and eats well.

An Interesting week lies ahead.
