This morning has indeed come as somewhat of a shock to Manchester United fans. After all who would have expected the news of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as manager just a fortnight after the club claimed a record-breaking 20th league championship?

Love him or hate him, there is no doubt that Luiz Suarez gets the football world talking. For all his undeniable talent – which has been demonstrated on multiple occasions this season – the regular lapses in judgement make the talismanic Uruguayan a controversial character.

Despite some fine performances this season it would be fair to say that Danny Welbeck’s inclusion as one of six nominees’s for the PFA Young Player award has certainly raised a few eyebrows.
Many fans and pundits have been surprised to see Danny included as the forward has only scored once in the Premier League this season and hasn’t started anywhere near the same amount of games that the other nominees – excluding Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere – have.
One more victory, one more precious three points, and what has seemed inevitable for weeks will become a reality. Manchester United have claimed the 20th top division crown, which has now given the club a two title lead over great rivals Liverpool.
And Manchester City may well return with a strong assault next season, but the hinted power shift from red to blue appears once again premature.
Astonished, ashamed and disappointed, these are just a few clean words I can conjure up to describe my feelings about the growing popularity of the Premier League half and half scarf, it’s a sad symbolisation of how football and supporters in general, have changed over the last twenty years or so.
As Manchester United stumble to the title, the gap closing but maybe not fast enough for Manchester City to snatch it away again, the general play continues to disappoint.
Brilliantly consistent rather to consistently brilliant sums up United. A rather odd formation with Robin van Perfect on top of a midfield 5, emulating City, just didn’t work.
