Marcus Rashford features in Vogue magazine’s 40 faces of hope

According to the Guardian, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been featured on the front cover of the September issue of the British Vogue.

The English international has emerged as a beacon of hope for his fight against child poverty. His activism forced a government U-turn on the distribution of free food vouchers for the poor over the summer.

Rashford posed alongside supermodel turned mental health activist Adwoa Aboah, for the Activism Now issue. This is the United star’s first appearance on the cover.

As someone who made use of the government scheme as a kid, Rashford is well aware of the importance it holds in the lives of the impoverished.

“If I didn’t put myself out there and say, ‘This is not OK and it needs to change,’ I would have failed my 10-year-old self.”

Thanks to Rashford, around 1.3million children will now not have to worry about where their next meal is going to come from.

The United star’s efforts saw him become the youngest recipient of an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester. This made him the third United hero to receive the particular honour. He follows in the footsteps of club legends Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson.

According to the report, the September issue of Vogue is regarded as the most important of the calendar. This year, all the 26 international Vogues are basing their issues on the theme of hope.

All in all, Rashford has earnt the right to be called a harbinger of hope and a better tomorrow.
