Oliver Glasner is eyeing the Bayern Munich job amidst interest from Manchester United
Manchester United have been linked with a possible managerial reshuffle as we go into a fortnight of international football, which gives clubs time to sit back and make those behind-the-scenes decisions. The pressure on Ruben Amorim has been ever growing in the past weeks.
United identify Glasner as pressure builds on Amorim
The Portuguese head coach has found it difficult to settle into life in Manchester, with many supporters and pundits raising questions about his philosophy at M16.
And while he continues to walk the thin thread, the decision-makers at Carrington continue to identify possible head coaches who can take over from the former Sporting Lisbon manager if things come down to a place where he has to be relieved of his duties at United.
One of the managers that United reportedly identified is Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner. He has been proving his credentials with the Eagles, and his stock has been on the rise given their recent winning run, which saw them beat Liverpool twice in the space of weeks.
And if United are to turn their heads towards him, they will get someone who knows the league from the inside and has proved his ability in the English top tier. But while he is one of the names which would definitely uplift what is now a moaning fan base at M16, according to the latest by Football Insider, the Austrian has an admiration for a move to Bayern Munich instead.
He is said to be dreaming about moving to the German giants, and these aspirations could end up being a potential stumbling block for the Premier League heavyweights.
Reporter Sacha Tavolieri, speaking to Sky Sports (as relayed by Football Insider), said:
“Current Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner dreams of one day taking the reins at Bayern Munich.
“The Austrian coach, whose contract with the London club expires at the end of the season, is highly coveted by his management, who are keen to extend his contract.
“However, even if he renews his contract, a move to Bayern would not be ruled out; a specific release clause could be included in the new contract to allow for this transfer if the opportunity arises.”

While Glasner’s stock is on the rise, so is Vincent Kompany, who is leading Bayern Munich to new heights. And it does look like the Belgian will be at the helm with the German giants for a while longer (or at least until Man City comes calling).
This is where the Austrian will have a decision to make on whether he goes to United and shows his ability at a big club or stays at Palace till that Bayern job becomes available.
