Casemiro set for 2026 exit at Manchester United
There have been a lot of speculations going around about Casemiro and his possible future at Old Trafford. The Brazilian midfielder has come under scrutiny after that red card he picked up against Chelsea, which brought to light how he has failed to find his stride at Old Trafford.
The former Real Madrid midfielder has found it difficult to get accustomed to the pace and rigour of playing weekly in English football.
And given that United already wanted to bring in a new midfielder when 2026 comes around, it decreases this sense of reliability on Casemiro. And complement that with the finances involved in keeping him; suddenly it makes sense to ship him off, given how United are looking to cut budgets behind the scenes.
Casemiro could be sold?
Casemiro is on a massive £375,000 weekly wage, and this is a massive sum given that he is not coming even close to performances on the pitch. And given that United are looking lean, their wage structure means that they want to get players on heavy wages on the wrong side of age and put the doors at M16. And Casemiro remains one of the players.
United do have a one-year extension on his contract, but it doesn’t look like they will be exercising that.
The fact that United are trying to bring the wage bill under £300m this season means a few high earners will be walking on thin ice. And speaking in an exclusive interview with Football Insider, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson insisted that United won’t activate Casemiro’s option given his “enormous” wages. He said:
“Casemiro’s probably on £20m a year, so it could be 8-10 per cent of the wage bill.
“I think he’s definitely going to go at the end of the season.
“I just don’t see there’s any possibility at all on Casemiro, just because his wages are enormous.”

It does look like Casemiro has one foot out the door at Old Trafford. He is someone who has found it quite difficult to find his consistency since he moved to United. It could also be down to the fact that he moved to M16 in his twilight years.
And given his wages and how United are currently heading towards a fresh rebuild, it does make sense that they end up bringing in younger players who are not only financially more stable (in terms of wages) but also have that fresh grind about them.
