With a five-year contract now signed, the Belgian international is set to move to Manchester. The club has been working on the deal for a long time and finally completed it on transfer deadline day. The news comes after we had earlier reported that Emiliano Martinez was also a potential option, but the management eventually decided to go the youth route. The move makes it clear that the club has made this investment with the long-term future in mind.

The question now arises as to what Lammens can offer United. From what we have seen of him, he has excellent shot-stopping ability, and he is very calm in goal. The 23-year-old’s ability to be good with both feet makes him fit into the modern goalkeeping system. Looking at Ruben Amorim’s tactics, he often plays with three defenders and prefers possession-based football. In such a situation, it will be important for Lammens to work on his distribution and passing.
If he continues to improve in this, then he can become an important part of Amorim’s plans.
