“On a mission”- PL star looking towards divine guidance as Manchester United shoe interest

Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson plays it coy amidst Manchester United interest

Manchester United’s 2024/25 season have been nothing short of a nightmare. 15th place in the Premier League, defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final and now out of any European competition for next season, all this happened in the same year. Ruben Amorim’s entry in the middle of the season initially raised some hope, but in reality, the situation did not change. The players’ mentality remained broken, and the team did not look united. As glorious as the club’s history have been, recent performances have been equally shameful.

Amorim has now taken over the reins completely. The club have made it clear that players who are not in their plans will be sold. United have quickly added the names of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and have also signed young talent like Diogo Leon. However, the main problem still remains the same, and that is the striker position. Both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have failed to live up to expectations. Now there are reports that the club are looking for a new striker.

Jackson buzz and potential dilemma

According to a report by CaughtOffside, both Manchester United and Barcelona want to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. However, Jackson himself has played down such speculation and said that he is focused on Chelsea. Still, Chelsea have made Jackson’s position more unstable by signing Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer.

Nicolas Jackson isn’t the right signing for our club

“Competition? I have no competition,” Jackson said, as quoted by the Metro.

“We’re all here to help the club. Everyone has their role to play. I’m on a mission. It’s up to the coach to make his choices. I focus solely on my work.

“I’m a Chelsea player. The future belongs to God. If there are any changes, you’ll know.

“For now, I’m focused on my preparation.”

Jackson possesses pace, relentless energy and consistency between runs. He sometimes provides a game-changing moment, but at times, he lacks the presence of mind that a big club striker should have. The 24-year-old also struggles to hold on to the ball and create combinations with other players.

Not Jackson, we need a solid alternative

We don’t want Jackson at our club. He shines at times, but sometimes it is not enough to survive in the Premier League. We need a striker who has the ability to score more than 20 goals per season. Jackson’s finishing is not reliable. He also misses easy chances at times. This instability can be costly in a pressure-packed stadium like Old Trafford.

The Senegalese’s body language also shows that he is still not ready for the true test of the Premier League. It also looks difficult to fit him in with players like Cunha and Mbeumo. If we bring Jackson at a price of £80 million or £100 million, it could be another wrong move. United should focus on a striker like Ollie Watkins or Benjamin Sesko – players who can put the team back in the Premier League title race. Jackson is a risk, and we can’t take the risk right now.
