Juventus eye loan deal for 22-year-old Manchester United star

Juventus trying to land Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund on loan

The 2024/25 season was nothing short of a nightmare for Manchester United. Finishing 15th in the league table, losing the Europa League final to Tottenham and missing out on any European tournament next season—all of this shook the club’s confidence. The decision to bring in Ruben Amorim mid-season was made, but by then the damage had been done. The board promised a fresh start, but the resentment and uncertainty among fans were palpable.

There are now attempts to turn things around. United have already signed two big names in the summer with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and brought in youngster Diogo Leon, laying the foundation for the years to come. Marcus Rashford has been sent to Barcelona, but only on loan. Now Amorim wants to shed players who are not part of his plans, and a new striker is his priority. It’s not that Rasmus Hojlund hasn’t got a chance, but he hasn’t lived up to the trust placed in him.

Interest from Italy

It is in this context that Manchester United are now considering sending Rasmus Hojlund to Juventus. According to a report in Mediaset, via MEN, the club might be open to a loan deal, especially if not a permanent one, and Juventus want to get him on loan. The Dane’s old memories in Italy are still fresh, when he performed brilliantly for Atalanta.

As a Manchester United fan, I believe a loan move for Rasmus Hojlund to Juventus could be a pragmatic step if a permanent sale doesn’t materialize.

The 22-year-old has a lot of potential. His quick runs, tall stature, and hustle inside the box are his strong traits, but the English league has repeatedly put him in trouble. He has missed out on the kind of performances he should have as a lead striker in Amorim’s system. The Red Devils have been looking to find a perfect suitor for him this summer.

Is a loan the only way?

As United fans, we believe that if a deal to permanently sell Hojlund doesn’t work out, it would be wise to send him on loan. He scored just four goals in the league last season, which suggests he is not yet ready for Amorim’s high-pressing, movement-based system. Experience in Italy could help reinvigorate the Dane’s confidence.

Plus, if his form improves there, he could command a better transfer fee in the future. That would keep United within financial terms and open the door for a solid striker like Ollie Watkins or Benjamin Sesko. However, a loan move is not the answer. Without an obligation to buy, Hojlund could return and face the same problem.

Juventus are also considering other options, such as Darwin Nunez, so United may have to lower their asking price of €45 million. All in all, this deal could go through, but it is not guaranteed. Still, it seems like the most practical route given the circumstances.
