Manchester United are interested in Benjamin Sesko this summer
Manchester United’s approach to the transfer market is a little different this time. There is less enthusiasm to add big names like every season, and more thought behind each decision. The club have already signed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this time, but stability is still missing in the team’s striker department. Rasmus Hojlund’s form is fluctuating, and the team needs a player who can share the goal-scoring burden.
The ups and downs in performance have been evident in the last few seasons. The previous season was a complete disaster as the club finished 15th in the Premier League, lost the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham, and will not be playing in Europe next season. There were changes in policies after the arrival of new owners, but the needs remained the same. The club are now moving towards balanced decisions instead of haste, and perhaps this is the reason why every link is not being converted into a transfer.
Latest transfer gossip regarding Sesko
Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko has been linked with United for some time now, but Laurie Whitwell’s report suggests that the club are not actively pursuing him at the moment. The report makes it clear that Sesko has been watched by the club for a long time, but his current form and £78m asking price are making a deal difficult.

“Benjamin Sesko is another one that United have obviously tracked for a long, long time, and he’s now not going to Arsenal and I think that’s a really fascinating one, how that all develops as well.
“He is somebody that United have looked at for years, but at this point, as far as I’m aware, the cost of that and the fact that he didn’t sort of go through the Bundesliga last season, tearing it up, I think this combination means that he’s not one that’s been actively pursued.
“But there’s certainly options that they’re kind of looking at, and it is just about balancing the books.”
The 22-year-old scored 13 goals in 33 league games for Leipzig last season. Those numbers don’t sound bad, but when you’re spending that much money, expectations are high. He has age on his side, pace and the qualities, but whether he can adapt to the pace of the Premier League remains a question mark.
Now is the time to decide
The club’s approach suggests that the era of spending blindly is over. A player like Sesko has the future, but what’s needed right now is a striker who can make an immediate impact. The Slovenian’s £78 million price tag and average goal rate do not seem to be the right decision for United at this time.
We think the club should act fast to sell Alejandro Garnacho now. He is the biggest cash-in option at the moment, and the club need money to bring in a new striker. Trusting Hojlund completely is a risk. That leaves two options—Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko. If the club want an immediate impact, Watkins is the better option. However, if there is a long-term strategy, Sesko can be targeted again later, at a lower price. Given the current situation, United need to play smart—make the right decision quickly, or else the next season could slip away.
