Manchester United are interested in Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson
The summer transfer window is in full swing at Old Trafford. With Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, and Bryan Mbeumo already through the door, Rúben Amorim’s project is starting to take shape. There’s a distinct sense of revolution in the air, and at this new-look United, no signing is made without purpose. If one thing is clear, it’s that the days of buying for the sake of it are over.
The club is now targeting players who fit the system, who understand the tempo and intensity Amorim demands. That’s why every name linked to United now draws genuine intrigue. And today, a new name has entered the frame, a young striker, quick and powerful, though still raw and in need of refinement.
A team trying to wake up
The past few seasons have been nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster. One weekend we’re beating Liverpool, the next we’re being humbled by Brentford. We went from backing Erik ten Hag to scanning the horizon for his replacement. Now, with Rúben Amorim in charge, there’s a cautious sense of optimism. Not overwhelming, especially after missing out on European football following the UEFA Europa League final defeat, but it’s there. The spark is flickering again.

What this team needs more than anything is identity, balance, and consistent goals. Rasmus Højlund has shown flashes of brilliance, but he can’t do it alone. Marcus Rashford isn’t a natural No. 9, and he no longer appears to be part of Amorim’s long-term plans. That’s why the club is finally treating this striker shortage with the urgency it deserves, and the search for a proper solution is well underway.
Jackson appears on the scene.
In that regard, Florian Plettenberg dropped the bombshell. According to the journalist, Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Nicolas Jackson. The Chelsea striker appears on the club’s list of options to reinforce the attack. There are no advanced negotiations, but there is real interest. Jackson is under contract until 2033, but if a convincing offer comes in, the Stamford Bridge outfit could let him go. Several enquiries have been made, and United do not want to be left behind.
What can Jackson offer United?
At 24, Jackson represents a profile of a versatile striker. He can move all over the front line. His power, pace and constant pressing fit well with what Amorim is looking for. The Senegalese striker comes from scoring 14 goals in 37 matches in the 2024/25 season in all competitions. However, beyond the numbers, what seduces suitors is his ability to break lines and offer solutions with his mobility. Even so, Jackson’s finishing and decision-making leave doubts.
From our point of view, signing Nicolas Jackson would be a brave decision, but not without risk. We like his energy and the way he presses. Amorim needs players like that, who don’t give their opponents a break. However, there is a difference between being useful and being decisive. In that case, Jackson, although promising, is not yet convincing as the killer we need. His similarity to Højlund in style could be a problem. Two strikers with potential still to be unlocked, but without one who can score 25 goals a season, we could be condemned once again to depend on wingers.
Also, Chelsea’s asking price of £100m is exorbitant. We can’t spend that sum of money on promises. We need certainty as a striker. If Jackson arrives for a reasonable price and as a complement, we think it’s perfect, but if he’s the big offensive gamble of the summer, it makes us uneasy, because it’s not enough to run, you have to create chances, be ruthless in front of the goal, and United, more than running, need to get back to winning ways. If we had to go after someone for that price, then Benjamin Sesko is a much better option, and Ollie Watkins will be available for a much lower price.
