25-year-old Manchester United player could leave in the coming weeks; Amorim not a fan

Tyrell Malacia could leave Manchester United this summer

Ruben Amorim continues to clean house at Manchester United. After years of disappointments, managerial changes, aimless signings and dull seasons, something seems to be working well at Manchester United this summer. With the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon confirmed, and Bryan Mbeumo‘s signing pending medical confirmation, Old Trafford is beginning to take a new shape. However, while some are arriving with excitement, others are already packing their bags, and one of them is Tyrell Malacia.

The club has been trying for years to rebuild itself without quite succeeding. Since Sir Alex’s departure, every season has been a rollercoaster of frustration. The squad has had quality, but no direction. Signings have come in, but few have worked. Amorim is trying to do what many before him could not that is, build a competitive, young and hungry squad. To do that, he has to cut corners.

One more name on the exit list

In the midst of this clean-up, the case of Tyrell Malacia is not so surprising. According to journalist Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, the Dutch full-back has already been informed that he is not part of the plans. He himself, along with the likes of AntonyAlejandro GarnachoMarcus Rashford (who is leaving on loan to Barcelona) and Jadon Sancho, has reportedly told the club of his intention to leave. Malacia’s move seems imminent. His destination would be France, Germany or Spain, although there is no concrete interest in England. Amorim wants a definitive exit, without any twists and turns.

Manchester United’s decision to part ways with Tyrell Malacia appears driven by a combination of performance, fitness, and squad dynamics.

“Malacia is going to head back to Europe. Obviously, he’s been told he can go. I’ve heard bits in France – basically leaving it to him and his people to find a new club. He will be gone within the next few weeks and he’s not staying. I haven’t heard of much English interest, to be honest, but United definitely want him out permanently. So I expect something in Spain, France, or Germany.”

Malacia arrived in 2022 with great expectations. He was an aggressive full-back, with speed, good control and defensive ability, but injuries have destroyed him. The 25-year-old has hardly played in two years. He never found rhythm or consistency. Competition with Luke Shaw, the emergence of Harry Amass and his physical frailty have left him out of the picture.

Malacia had potential, but football is unforgiving. In two seasons, he failed to establish himself and show consistency. The Dutchman’s physical problems have been constant, and that impacts heavily on a club like United. We can no longer expect miracles from players who live with injuries.

Besides, Amorim needs space and money. There are already new names, and it doesn’t make sense to keep someone in the squad who isn’t even a replacement option. It’s a shame that his time is coming to an end like this, but it’s the best thing for everyone. Malacia can relaunch his career in another country, in a less physical league, and we can look to the future without ballast. Malacia was a gamble that didn’t work out. Now it’s time to move on, and hopefully, this time, with a reconstruction that works.
