Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez wants Manchester United to sign him after Bryan Mbeumo. The Red Devils have prioritised the attacking department at the early stages of the transfer window, signing Matheus Cunha first.
Now, United have agreed a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, which allows them to shift their focus elsewhere. While United showed vulnerabilities in many areas of the pitch, Ruben Amorim needs to address the new development this summer.
We All Follow United recently covered that United will start the new pre-season tour without their controversial goalkeeper, Andre Onana. The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury recently amid doubts about his place in the club’s lineup for the upcoming season.

The situation leaves United with no choice but to address the goalkeeping department immediately before focusing on any other position. According to Romano (via YouTube), Martinez wants to leave Villa for United amid the Red Devils’ confirmation of Mbeumo signing. He said:
“First of all, we have to see what they decide to do for the goalkeeper – if they want to bring in a new one, if they want to sign a young goalkeeper for the future or if they want to sign an experienced goalkeeper. There is Emi Martinez – he keeps on hoping for a call from Manchester United. He is open to the move to Manchester United. It depends on United and what they want to do for the goalkeeper. There will be internal conversations in the next days to decide.”
The recently covered report suggested that United have made a concrete move for Martinez, who is valued at £45m. However, after spending more than £130m on two attacking signings so far, the Red Devils will face a financial conundrum.
United wanted to sell before they could buy new players after signing Mbeumo and Cunha this summer. The Red Devils have too many surplus players, who are taking a huge chunk out of the wage expenses.
This financial instability poses a looming danger to the club amid the need to support Amorim this summer. Rest assured, if United could sign Martinez from Villa, they are getting a World Cup winner, irrespective of his eccentricities.
The 32-year-old has Premier League experience and a drive to thrive in high-pressure situations. There is no pressure in the football world than to play as a goalkeeper for United.
