Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim wants Barcelona to put Fermin Lopez in a swap deal for Marcus Rashford this summer. Barcelona have maintained their interest in Marcus Rashford as an alternative to their failed signing of Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.
Meanwhile, Rashford has returned to training despite United telling him not to, as he is not part of Amorim’s plan. The 27-year-old spent half of the last season in a loan deal at Aston Villa after joining them in January.
The Red Devils are hoping to sell all of their surplus, particularly the players on enormous wages at the club. Rashford signed a lucrative deal in the summer of 2023 after enjoying a spectacular 2022-23 season under Erik ten Hag.

However, the Englishman failed to maintain consistency in his contribution and performance, facing constant criticism from the fans and media. According to Football365 (via Manchester Evening News), Amorim wants Fermin from Barcelona for United in a swap deal involving Rashford.
United want a pure profit of £40m for Rashford, but the package involving his wages and the fee is enormous. At the same time, Barcelona have struggled financially for many seasons and will not throw money at an inconsistent player.
However, the idea of using Fermin helps both United and Barcelona if they are willing to sell their precious gem. The 22-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed praise for his technical ability, eye for the goal and versatility to fill multiple positions.
United’s midfield would benefit from a player like Lopez, who dictates the play with game intelligence and also works hard. The Spain international has featured regularly for the Spanish giants, making it very hard to lure him from the club.
At this moment, the potential deal sounds as impossible as Barcelona paying the valuation that United are demanding. However, the two clubs need to find a middle ground if Rashford wants to get his desired move to Spain this summer.
