Brighton star makes a “come and get me” plea to Manchester United

Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan has alerted Manchester United by admitting that he is ready to move in this summer window. The Red Devils are eyeing the 27-year-old as part of the defensive reinforcement, despite signing Patrick Dorgu for the position.

The Red Devils have prioritised the attacking department at the early stages of the summer window under manager Ruben Amorim. United have signed Matheus Cunha quickly, but have faced considerable difficulty so far in securing attacker Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

The Manchester giant cannot afford to dwell on one department for too long and miss out on other key targets. United endured a horrible campaign last season, finishing 15th in the Premier League and also losing the Europa League finals.

Their dreadful season highlighted vulnerabilities in many areas, with their defence facing the most criticism, struggling to keep clean sheets. Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation and tactics lack players in the United squad who would thrive and maintain cohesiveness throughout the field.

Wingbacks play a crucial role in Amorim’s system as they consistently make overlapping runs, stretching the opposition at both ends. Estupinan fits the profile that Amorim desires in a left-sided United wingback, with his capability to make constant attacking runs.

Speaking to Canal Del Futbol (via Manchester Evening News), Estupinan revealed that he is ready to move from Brighton amid interest from United. He said:

“The truth is they have been three years in Brighton with a lot of learning. But this will be a transfer market with a lot of movement. The club know that I would like to grow, that I would like to keep growing.”

United still have Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw in their ranks, despite their struggle with constant injuries during their tenure. While the Red Devils want to sell Malacia this summer, Shaw’s situation is unknown at the moment.

However, it is in United’s interest to have someone reliable like Estupinan to compete with Dorgu. Shaw’s injury record makes him unreliable, while Estupinan has strong Premier League experience.
