Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tyrell Malacia is not part of the current Manchester United project under Ruben Amorim. The Dutchman is one of the forgotten signings from the Erik ten Hag reign, which involved many failed transfer recruits.
The 25-year-old recently returned from a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, after joining them in last season’s January transfer window. Since joining in the summer of 2022, Malacia has missed 70 games and 500 days due to a knee injury.
United signed Malacia to compete with Luke Shaw, who has also suffered from nagging injuries throughout his Old Trafford tenure. As Amorim succeeded Ten Hag, the Portuguese has demanded players he can rely upon, while also maintaining a more compact senior squad.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has revealed that Malacia is not part of the Man United project under Amorim. He said:
“Tyrell Malacia is out of the project. He will not show up for training. It’s over with Man United. And so they will look for a solution for Malacia, who returned from a loan deal with PSV Eindhoven.”
Amorim has already signed Patrick Dorgu for the left wing-back position, a player who suits his tactical philosophy at United. Furthermore, United have no European competition in their fixture list next season, providing them more opportunity to rest and train.
Amorim wants to use the situation to sign quality over quantity, and play those players regularly with a less-rotated policy. With Shaw already available to compete with Dorgu and replace if one of them gets injured, Malacia has no place.

However, the problem that United have persistently faced is their inability to sell their surplus players in the transfer window. We All Follow United covered that Malacia has no potential suitor in the market right now for United to sell.
At the same time, the Red Devils need to sell their surplus before signing any player that Amorim needs. Hopefully, the Red Devils can move quickly in the coming days as time is running out with so much to do. United signed Malacia for €17 million (£14.5m), a price that they will find hard to recoup.
