Manchester United might be going for Lyon star Rayan Cherki
Manchester United could see a sporting revolution at the club at the end of the season. Ruben Amorim and the club’s hierarchy would want to rebuild the club after a terrible Premier League season. The side will need quality in all areas of the pitch, and hence, it would be an important transfer window for the Red Devils.
United might be in need of a quality attacking midfielder, as they have been heavily dependent on Bruno Fernandes. In his system, Amorim needs quality midfielders, and hence, Fichajes has reported that United are interested in signing Lyon star Rayan Cherki.
Manchester United might be going for Rayan Cherki
The 21-year-old Frenchman has been a quality player and an integral part of the Lyon team. The Ligue 1 club have tried their best to retain him in the previous transfer windows despite the interest from various clubs. However, this time around, Lyon might not be able to keep him at the club.
United are looking to make a significant investment in him, and the player might also be looking to move to the Premier League. If Lyon do get a substantial offer for him, it is expected that they will sell him this summer. The talks between both the clubs are expected to get intense in the coming months.
Talking about his stats, Cherki has scored eight goals in 27 matches so far in the Ligue 1 2024/2025 season. Four of the 8 goals were scored at home, while he scored 4 goals at away games. Overall, Ryan Cherki’s goals scored per 90 minutes are 0.39. Moreover, Ryan Cherki’s total G/A (goals + assists) is 18 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.88 per 90 minutes, and his non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.35.
Manchester United’s interest in Rayan Cherki comes down to one thing: pure, untapped talent. At just 21, the Lyon youngster has already made a name for himself with his creativity, flair, and ability to light up a game, whether he’s operating as an attacking midfielder or drifting in from the wing.

Cherki brings the kind of unpredictability United have been missing — the “maverick” spark that could finally ease their reliance on Bruno Fernandes to make things happen. With technical finesse and sharp vision, he fits the profile of the exciting, game-changing player United fans have been craving.
Even better, he might be reportedly available for just £25 million — a potential steal, given Lyon’s financial troubles. With Ruben Amorim potentially taking the reins, Cherki could flourish into a key figure in United’s next chapter, helping push the club back toward the top of the Premier League.
