Manchester United scouts have been impressed by Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo’s performances this season
It is now an open secret that Manchester United are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha.
The Red Devils have been working hard behind the scenes to sign Cunha from Wolves after identifying him as one of Ruben Amorim’s top summer targets. The Brazilian has been a revelation this season with 15 goals and six assists in 30 Premier League outings, playing a key role in dragging Wolves out of the relegation zone and maintaining their top-flight status.
Manchester United have firmly set their sights on Cunha, and it was reported recently that the club officials are set to meet with his agents to discuss personal terms. The versatile attacker has a £62.5m release clause written into his contract at Molineux, and as things stand, it looks like Old Trafford will be his next destination.

While Cunha is seen as the top target for the No.10 position, the Premier League heavyweights are also eyeing a move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. This is as per the view of former Man United and Blackburn Rovers chief scout Mick Brown, who has revealed that the Red Devils’ scouts have been impressed by the Ghana international’s performances this season.
Antoine Semenyo is enjoying a brilliant season with Bournemouth, recording and five assists in 33 Premier League appearances so far. This tally includes his goal in the 1-1 draw against Man United at the Vitality Stadium last month, a low-hard strike to give his team the lead in the first half before Rasmus Hojlund scored a stoppage-time leveller.
The 25-year-old’s audition in front of Amorim was perfect, as he not only scored a fine goal but also provided a great shift off the ball after the Cherries were reduced to 10 men following Evanilson’s red card. Mick Brown has added that Semenyo, who is valued at more than £60million, is being viewed as a good fit in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
“Man United have been impressed by Semenyo this season,” Brown exclusively told Football Insider.
“He fits the bill of the type of player Ruben Amorim is looking for, he’s strong, quick, he’s got plenty of energy and works hard, he’s good in shooting situations and good in the air too. Amorim likes to play his 3-4-3 system, and Semenyo could fit into any of those three positions, so that’s another point in his favour.
“So, based on all of that, and to give him credit, he’s had a fantastic season and is definitely in the frame to join Man United – I think he’d be a good option.”

Semenyo has been linked to several big Premier League clubs, so it would not be easy for Man United to lure him away to Old Trafford this summer. The Ghanaian will certainly be a quality acquisition, thanks to his pace, dynamism, flair and movement. He is also versatile, capable of operating on the flanks as well as a No.9.
However, the financial situation at Old Trafford is tricky, thus, the club must first tidy up the wage book and trim the deadwood from the roster before being able to spend big on Semenyo.
