Manchester United have been surprisingly linked with a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo
Manchester United have been toothless going forward and need to make changes next summer, recruiting players that fit Ruben Amorim’s profile. They are currently 14th in the Premier League table, well below their standards as a top English club.
The squad that Ruben Amorim inherited back in November have failed to adjust to his tactical demands, continuing the club’s worst-ever top-flight season. However, the Red Devils have reached the Europa League semi-final and are fully focused on winning that competition to salvage something.
The potential Europa League triumph would help the 20-time English champions qualify for the next season’s Champions League, ensuring more funds to spend in the transfer market. As things stand, INEOS must sell the surplus players at the club before bringing in fresh blood.

According to a report from The Sun, Manchester United are leading the race to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes. Arsenal have also been linked with the forward, who could quit Real Madrid this summer if a big-money offer arrives from the Premier League.
Rodrygo has been fantastic for Real Madrid since signing from Santos for £38million in 2018, helping them win the Spanish Super Cup, La Liga and the Champions League. The versatile forward was the hero was Los Blancos’ dramatic comeback against Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final in 2022, appearing off the bench in the second half and scoring two crucial goals.
However, the high-profile signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain last summer has led to a reduced role for the Brazilian international. He has made 22 La Liga starts from 30 appearances, scoring six goals and supplying as many assists. Overall, Rodrygo has played 50 times thus far this season.

The aforementioned report adds Madrid are seeking around £85million to let the 24-year-old attacker leave at the end of the campaign, as Florentino Perez looks to make big changes to the squad that has crashed out of the Champions League and were beaten 3-2 by arch-rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final in Seville last weekend.
Man United are facing financial restrictions despite their desire to recruit players as per Amorim’s demands. While Rodrygo fits the profile that United craves, signing him is an uphill task due to numerous factors.

One of those is the constant struggle that the Red Devils are facing as a team and a lack of competitiveness, which could demoralise any available option. Furthermore, if Madrid opts to sell Rodrygo during the summer, the situation could attract a bidding war as the forward’s stock in Europe is very high.
Nonetheless, the South American star, who is 24 and yet to hit the prime stages of his career, is exactly the kind of player that INEOS should target during the summer.
