The Swedish forward has emerged as one of the world’s most in-form strikers and is already well-versed in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system from their time together at Sporting. Since Amorim’s appointment at Old Trafford, Gyökeres has been identified as one of United’s top transfer targets.
The Red Devils are also nearing a deal for Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers but are said to be eager to bring in another top-class forward to support him. Securing Gyökeres would be a major statement of intent.
United’s qualification hopes for the UEFA Champions League are crucial to sealing the deal.
