Ian Wright urges Manchester United star to move to Newcastle United

Ian Wright believes Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford will thrive at Newcastle United

Manchester United could be set for major changes in the upcoming summer transfer window following a disastrous campaign. Several players may be heading for the exit at Old Trafford — and one of them could very well be Marcus Rashford. The homegrown star was loaned out to Aston Villa in January for the remainder of the season after falling out of favour under new manager Ruben Amorim, who publicly criticised Rashford’s performances and attitude.

Rashford had been sidelined for over a month before securing his loan move, and it now seems unlikely that he has a future at United. However, the Englishman has shown flashes of his old form during his time at Villa. The biggest question now is whether Aston Villa will decide to sign him permanently this summer.

Marcus Rashford to move to Newcastle United?

Speaking to the Ringer FC Podcast (h/t Goal), former Arsenal player Ian Wright has urged Marcus Rashford to consider a move to Newcastle United this summer, given the uncertainty surrounding his future at Manchester United. Wright believes that Rashford, alongside Alexander Isak, could form a deadly partnership for the Magpies.

“It’s the kind of signing Newcastle should be making. That would be amazing. That would be dangerous. Rashford at Newcastle? Yeah. That would be really good. I really like that for Rashford. Rashford at Newcastle can be dangerous.”

Rashford has scored four goals in 17 appearances for Aston Villa so far. Although Villa hold a £40 million clause to make the move permanent, Rashford may prefer to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League, a factor that could heavily influence his decision.

Rashford’s situation demands careful consideration. A permanent move to Newcastle could offer him a much-needed fresh start, away from the intense scrutiny he has faced at Manchester United. However, United must also weigh the risks of letting a homegrown talent leave, particularly if Ruben Amorim’s project were to falter.

Rashford’s talent remains undeniable, and his flashes of form at Aston Villa show he is still capable of delivering at a high level. A reconciliation with United could be the ideal outcome, but if the rift with Amorim persists, a move to Newcastle might be the perfect opportunity to unlock his full potential. For now, we can only wait and see how the transfer saga surrounding Rashford unfolds at Old Trafford.
