Manchester United are planning an audacious bid for RB Leipzig star attacker Xavi Simons during the upcoming summer transfer window. The Red Devils have faced constant issues in their attacking department in recent years under different managers at the club.
United have endured a disastrous season, currently 14th in the Premier League and going through a managerial transition as well. The Red Devils sacked Erik ten Hag after he failed to rejuvenate the club and appointed Ruben Amorim as manager.
The former Sporting CP boss immediately established his tactical style of play at the club and made numerous tough calls. Amorim allowed Marcus Rashford and Antony to leave on loan in January despite having limited options in the wing positions.
Apart from Rashford and Antony, Jadon Sancho is also performing at Chelsea on a season-long loan deal at the moment. All three wingers are not part of Amorim’s plan for the club’s future, and he intends to make more changes.
According to Fichajes, United are ready to make an audacious bid of €135 million to sign Leipzig attacking winger Simons. The German club signed Simons for €50 million along with add-ons that could take the total spending to €80 million.
The Red Devils are facing a lot of financial restrictions due to their frivolous spending in the past few years. United signed many players for an inflated price while they failed to live up to the expectation, earning huge wages.
Amorim needs to sell these players as they are surplus to requirements and a source to raise the transfer budget. If United succeed in selling many of their surplus, the potential of a deal for Simons could become a reality.
