Manchester United are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen star Patrick Schick
Manchester United have fallen well short of expectations this season, but under new manager Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils are gearing up for a major summer rebuild. According to German journalist Patrick Berger via X, one of the players United are closely monitoring is Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick. The Czech forward is being considered as a potential option to strengthen United’s centre-forward position ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
After a dismal season in front of goal, Manchester United are prioritising attacking reinforcements this summer. With just 38 goals scored in the Premier League — fewer than any other side outside the relegation zone, barring two — the Red Devils are in urgent need of firepower. According to German journalist Patrick Berger, United have been closely monitoring Patrik Schick’s situation at Bayer Leverkusen and are considering a summer move for the striker.
While the club ideally wants to bring in a younger centre-forward to provide depth and long-term value in the No. 9 role, Schick has reportedly caught their attention due to his “interesting” attributes. Berger adds that United have already held initial contact with the Czech Republic international, who is now one of several attacking options under consideration as part of the club’s rebuild.
Since joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, Patrik Schick has played a pivotal role in revitalising the club during a difficult period. The experienced striker has racked up 163 appearances and contributed 89 goals, a strong return for the 29-year-old Serie A veteran.
Schick still has two years remaining on his current contract, and according to reports, the newly crowned Bundesliga champions would demand around €30 million (£25 million) for his services this summer. Notably, the Czech international is said to favour a move to the Premier League and has reportedly dismissed interest from Middle Eastern clubs, a stance that could give Manchester United a key advantage in securing his signature.
With both Rasmus Højlund and recent addition Joshua Zirkzee struggling to consistently deliver, combining for just 15 goals across all competitions, United are actively exploring their options, and Schick’s proven scoring record could offer the immediate impact they’ve been missing.
