Manchester United are not looking to replace Andre Onana during the summer window but the “faith in him is eroding”. The Red Devils have many other positions to prioritize before they could converse about the goalkeeping situation during the summer.
Ruben Amorim inherited a very under-performing squad from Erik ten Hag during the middle of the season at Man United. However, Amorim’s vastly different tactical style of play has proven too much for United players to adjust during this season.
United are currently 14th in the Premier League table, well below the expectations from the club of their immense stature. More potential losses could put them as low as 17th place as it is only three points away from them.

Onana has faced severe criticism since he arrived at United as the successor to the legendary goalkeeper David De Gea. The Cameroon international has made many high-profile errors throughout this season, putting him at the epicentre of the club’s frustration.
The Athletic reporter Laurie Whitwell revealed that United are not looking to replace Onana during the summer but the faith in him is eroding. He said:
“The position of goalkeeper has not been on the agenda for United to this point. Striker is the priority, plus perhaps another attacker, a midfielder and wing-back. But faith in Onana is eroding due to mistakes in pivotal moments and after Amorim gave him space to “disconnect” there is a feeling around the club that a lasting separation could at least be explored by both sides.”
Onana ranks fourth in the Premier League as the goalkeeper with the most errors leading to a goal this season. Furthermore, Lyon exploited Onana’s vulnerabilities by playing mind games before the first-leg Europa League quarter-final tie which ended 2-2.
The 29-year-old received the blame for both the goals which the majority of viewers deemed as saveable. United have a rich history of deploying legendary goalkeepers in the past, who played a critical role in their success.
