Although Manchester United have struggled for consistency this season, they cruised through the Europa League group stages unbeaten, positioning themselves as genuine contenders to reach the final. Bruno Fernandes has stood out as one of the few players consistently playing with passion and commitment. Amid the team’s ups and downs, there have also been signs of growth and attitude shifts in others.

Notably, Leny Yoro has shown renewed energy and determination in recent matches. The young defender revealed that manager Ruben Amorim has been urging him to take more risks in possession and become more involved in United’s build-up play.

In Sunday’s goalless Premier League clash between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford, Leny Yoro started as the left-sided centre-back in a back three. The Frenchman played a key role in securing United’s second clean sheet in three league matches.

Partnering Harry Maguire, who replaced the injured Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, Yoro delivered a composed and disciplined performance. Since joining United from Lille in July, he has looked increasingly assured, and this outing was no exception, as he recorded three interceptions and a clearance without putting a foot wrong.

Yoro shone on the ball in the draw with Manchester City, successfully completing 39 of 44 passes with a pass completion rate of 89 per cent. After the game, Yoro said Ruben Amorim, the manager, has pushed him to be more involved in United’s build-up. Yoro told MUTV as reiterated by ManchesterEveningNews, that it’s important to control the game from the back, and that he’d like to add his drive to the midfield and forwards whenever possible.
