Manchester United are poised to compete with top clubs including Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson. The 25-year-old has played a pivotal role for the Italian club as they are currently third in the Serie A.
Ederson played a crucial role last season in helping Atalanta win the Europa League, beating Bayer Leverkusen in the finals. The rumour mill relentlessly linked Ederson with top European teams throughout the summer of 2024 but he opted to stay.
However, things could drastically change this summer with Atalanta already expecting the 25-year-old midfielder to leave in his prime years. The Brazilian midfielder has four goals and two assists from 41 matches in all competitions for Atalanta this season.

According to the Italian publication Tutto Atalanta, Man United are willing to battle Liverpool, Atletico and Juventus to sign Ederson. The Brazilian midfielder is valued at a minimum of €60 million by Atalanta, with a potential for a bidding war.
United’s new boss Ruben Amorim has struggled to help the current squad adjust to his style of play. Amorim uses a 5-4-1 formation with many variations while keeping a three-man defence along with two midfielders.
As Atalanta deploys the same formation, Ederson’s signing makes more sense and his qualities are well-documented. The Brazilian could inject tenacity, all-around abilities and energy and United are currently lacking in the midfield.
The 25-year-old thrives in the tactical style of play which Amorim demands and given the inflated reality of the transfer market, his price is justified. Nevertheless, United are under stern financial restriction, using the potential sales of their surplus to boost the transfer budget.

The Red Devils cannot afford to go into a bidding war which would potentially raise Ederson’s valuation. At the same time, the 25-year-old has a perfect profile which should give hope to the fanbase, who have suffered deeply by seeing numerous failed signings falter in the past.
