Manchester United’s €50 million bid for Barcelona star Alejandro Balde has been rejected
Manchester United are expected to target several key positions in the upcoming summer transfer window, and left-back could be high on the list. The club is growing increasingly frustrated with Luke Shaw’s recurring injury problems and are now seeking a more reliable option to rotate with their recent acquisition, Patrick Dorgu.
According to Fichajes, United have set their sights on Barcelona’s highly rated left-back Alejandro Balde. A product of the famed La Masia academy, Balde has cemented his place as a first-team regular under Hansi Flick and has continued to impress with his consistent and dynamic performances this season.
Manchester United get their €50 million rejected for Alejandro Balde
The report reveals that Manchester United’s initial offer of €50 million has been rejected by Barcelona. At just 21 years old, Alejandro Balde has become one of the most exciting young full-backs in Europe. Blisteringly quick, he tears down the flank with the pace of a sprinter, effortlessly turning defence into attack.
On the ball, Balde is composed and confident, delivering crisp crosses, executing clever dribbles, and showcasing a maturity well beyond his years. It’s no surprise he has everyone talking, and Barcelona’s reluctance to sell reflects just how highly they value him.
Defensively, Balde is no slouch either. His athleticism allows him to shut down threats and recover with ease, making him a complete modern full-back—bold, versatile, and always involved. If Manchester United manage to secure his signature this summer, it could be a game-changer. Ruben Amorim’s system thrives on dynamic wing-backs, and Balde’s pace, flair, and attacking instincts would add a new dimension to United’s build-up play—creating more opportunities for strikers like Rasmus Højlund to capitalise on.
At just 21, he offers a long-term solution for United’s fragile left flank, especially considering Luke Shaw’s ongoing fitness struggles. With his La Masia polish and sky-high potential, Balde could be the perfect blend of style and substance—someone United fans would quickly come to adore.

Although Barcelona continue to face financial challenges, they are highly unlikely to part ways with a homegrown talent like Alejandro Balde. As a product of the La Masia system and a player with a bright future, Balde represents both sporting value and club identity, making him a difficult asset to let go.
Despite Manchester United’s interest and financial power, securing his signature this summer appears unlikely, as Barcelona seem determined to hold onto one of their most promising young stars.
