Barcelona rejected €50 million from Manchester United for their attacking fullback Alejandro Balde despite United signing Patrick Dorgu in January. United manager Ruben Amorim has struggled to get the best out of the squad he inherited from Erik ten Hag.
The former Sporting CP boss has used his preferred 5-4-1 tactics despite the problems that the current squad has faced. However, Amorim will get a chance to sign the players that fit the profile he desires during the upcoming summer.
United are currently 13th in the Premier League table, which is a dreadful position for a club of their stature. Nevertheless, the Red Devils are focusing on the Europa League success to salvage their season and secure Champions League qualification.
According to Fichajes, United want Balde from Barcelona despite signing Dorgu during the January transfer window as Amorim’s first signing. While Dorgu can play at both the left and right flank, Balde is dominantly an attacking left back at Barcelona.
The 21-year-old struggled with consistency during the early stages of his tenure at the Spanish club after earning a promotion. However, the La Masia academy defender has enjoyed more consistency in performance under the new boss Hansi Flick this season.
The explosive attacking fullback is exactly the kind of player that Amorim wants in his style of play at United. As Fichajes reported the Catalan giant have rejected a €50 million bid for Balde from United, it is unlikely that the Red Devils will improve upon their offer.
Despite Balde fitting the profile that Amorim desires, United lack the financial resources to back their bold transfer move. Unless the Red Devils could increase their transfer budget by selling the surplus players or using someone in a swap deal, the potential move is highly unlikely.
