Manchester United are looking for options in the left-back position amidst concerns with the injury issues of Luke Shaw. Shaw has been part of just 70 minutes of playing time in the Premier League so far this season and just 31 minutes in the Europa League.
Manchester United want to sign Antonee Robinson
The Red Devils did sign Patrick Dorgu in the January transfer window, and he has featured in the left wingback position for United. However, the club management and Amorim want more depth in that position, and hence they are looking at options in the transfer market.
Dorgu has been part of 21 games for the club in the Premier League so far this season. He has scored three goals and provided one assist. However, Amorim has been overly dependent on him due to the lack of options in that role.
Pete O’Rourke, in his exclusive report for Football Insider, has stated that United are one of the clubs, along with Liverpool, that want to sign Fulham man Antonee Robinson.
Robinson is one of the best leftbacks in the Premier League currently, and Fulham will not be ready to let him leave for any amount below £40 million.
Will the move go through?
He is 27-year-old and now has the experience to play for a big club. He possesses excellent pace and is also athletic. Robinson provdies the balance in both attack and defence. He has the pace to stop the attackers from accelerating, and his stamina helps him to make the consistent overlapping runs.
Robinson’s crossing is sharp, and he delivers dangerous balls into the box. However, he does need improvement in his decision-making in the final third. The Fulham man does have the work rate to thrive for a club like Manchester United.
Robinson has played 28 matches in the Premier League so far this season and has already registered 10 assists. The stats clearly depict that he can be a very good option for Amorim’s side.

However, Liverpool are also in the competition. Given the Reds’ success in domestic as well as European competition, Robinson might choose the side from Anfield over the Red Devils.
United are 14th in the points table with 34 points in 28 matches. They have won nine matches, drawn seven, and lost 12 so far. So, they might not be able to be part of any European competition next season. So, it remains to be seen what happens finally in the summer transfer window.
