Man United’s transfer plans in jeopardy as rivals make bold move

West Ham United shift attention to Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, impacting the transfer strategy of Manchester United

Manchester United are facing strategic issues as West Ham United shifts their focus to right-back Kieran Trippier from Aaron Wan-Bissaka. West Ham have enjoyed a big spending spree this summer and have asked for the availability of Newcastle United’s Trippier.

The London club targeted Wan-Bissaka as the Red Devils planned to raise funds to sign their transfer targets this summer. The Red Devils had a bid rejected for Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to bolster the defence.

United have already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro to bolster their squad but that took a significant transfer of funds. They need to sell their fringe players to acquire funds that they can use in the transfer market once again.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The Red Devils have faced issues with Financial Fair Play rules and the Profit and Sustainability rules in previous windows. They resorted to signing Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon on loan deals last summer due to these persisting financial issues.

Wan-Bissaka has faced many ups and downs during his tenure at United since he signed from Crystal Palace in 2019. At 26, he started as a second-choice under Erik ten Hag but earned his place in the first team.

However, nagging injuries and inconsistency cost him the starting role as his competition Diogo Dalot delivered better performances. The funds raised from Wan-Bissaka would help the club to sign Mazraoui who is far more versatile than the Englishman.

According to the Telegraph (via the Mirror), West Ham have not received an answer on Trippier’s availability, making Wan-Bissaka’s future uncertain. If West Ham manages to sign Trippier, Wan-Bissaka could stay at United this season which impedes United’s transfer strategy.

United have faced this issue before when they are unable to offload the fringe players they have in the team. Hopefully, Wan-Bissaka will move on soon for the mutual benefit of both the player and the club.
