Manchester United’s bid for Manuel Ugarte has not met PSG’s valuation yet
Manchester United are looking to sign a defensive midfielder this summer as they look to do away with Casemiro, who has not lived up to the billing after his move from Real Madrid two years ago.
Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte has been on their wish-list for a number of weeks and the Red Devils have already commenced talks for his transfer.
According to Give Me Sport journalist Ben Jacobs, United, however, are still short of their PSG’s valuation for the Uruguayan international following their initial offer.
While the Ligue 1 side is looking for €60 million, Manchester United’s offer stands at €45 million at the moment though the negotiations between the two clubs are still ongoing.
Bayern Munich were also keen on signing Ugarte but having got their hands on Joao Palhinha from Fulham, the Bavarians may cool their interest in the 23-year-old.
United being the only realistic contender for the PSG star’s signing could work well in their favour and allow them to negotiate a reasonable transfer fee with his club.

And given that the Parisians are looking to sign Joao Neves, they may eventually part with Ugarte for a slightly cheaper price in order to accommodate the Benfica youngster in their squad.
Although their initial offer worth €45 million is still noticeably short of PSG’s asking price, Manchester United might return with a better fixed transfer fee along with some add-ons to sweeten the deal.
Ugarte was a third place winner with Uruguay at the Copa America, which has now concluded and it will only be a matter of time before his club future is resolved.
