Manchester United are interested Djordje Petrovic who plays for MLS side New England Revolution
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are monitoring and interested in young Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic who plays for MLS side New England Revolution.
The report reveals that although United are interested in him, they have not made any contact yet. He arrived at New England to replace Matt Turner, now an Arsenal keeper.
Petrovic’s contract with the MLS side runs until the end of 2025, with a club option to extend that by a year. So, if the Red Devils seek to sign him this summer, a sizeable fee would be required.
In 40 appearances for New England so far in all competition, the 23-year-old has kept 13 clean sheets. In the current season, he has kept six in 17 games.
Petrovic has shown to be very good at shot-stopping, be it from long or short distances. He is a Serbian international as well.
Coming back to United, they are still in a contract stalemate with their number one David de Gea, whose contract expires at the end of this month.
Although the Red Devils are relaxed about the situation and have not set a deadline for the Spaniard’s extension, they won’t mind him leaving for free.
Erik ten Hag shortlisted Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as his new number-one if de Gea leaves. The Dutchman coached the latter when the duo was at Ajax. So, the boss knows what he will get from the Inter man.

Getting an adequate backup goalkeeper would be important for United as well with Dean Henderson expected to leave this summer and other options already out of the club. Will they make an effort to sign Petrovic or focus more on getting a number one first before thinking about a maybe slightly older keeper to fill the number two slot (someone in his mid-30s)?
