Erik ten Hag deems Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof “untouchable”
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has been deemed “untouchable” by Erik ten Hag ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Sweden international was attracting interest from the likes of Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in January. The Spanish and Italian outfits were keen on him.
However, the Red Devils’ position regarding keeping a hold of the centre-back was clear. Once again, this summer, the Old Trafford side will try to keep a hold of the 28-year-old.
Erik ten Hag has never changed position on Victor Lindelöf — he’s untouchable. Same message sent to Atlético & Inter last January still valid now. 🔴⛔️ #MUFC

Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have also had an eye on Lindelof. However, Die Adler have never been in concrete talks with the Manchester-based club regarding the defender.
United signed the Swedish national in the summer of 2017 from SL Benfica. Over the last few years, the centre-back had established himself in the Red Devils’ first-team setup.
However, with the arrival of Ten Hag, the 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been the gaffer’s preferred options in the backline.
The two World Cup winners have formed a solid partnership at the Old Trafford side. However, the former Ajax centre-back got injured against Sevilla in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
Subsequently, Lindelof was called upon by Ten Hag. The defender put in some impressive displays alongside Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane in the final weeks of the campaign. He started in the last nine Premier League fixtures for the Manchester-baed club in the 2022/23 season.

The Swedish national has made a case for himself. The centre-back is seemingly ahead of Harry Maguire in the Dutch manager’s plans. But it remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old will be happy potentially staying a backup at United going into the upcoming campaign.
