Manchester United-linked Sofyan Amrabat open to Premier League switch from Fiorentina

Sogyan Amrabat, who plays for Fiorentina, has revealed that he is open to playing in the Premier League amidst links to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been associated with acquiring the midfielder’s services. Apart from the Old Trafford side, Premier League rivals Liverpool also have the Morocco international on their radar.

Speaking to The Times (Subscription Required), the 26-year-old hailed the English top-flight for its quality. He expressed a desire to feature in the league in the future.

“Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league, one of the strongest in the world. It would be nice to play there one day, but it’s not that I want only to go to England, because Spain is nice, Serie A is a nice league.

Amrabat joined the Viola in the summer of 2020. Since then, the midfielder has been a key part of the Florence-based club’s engine room.

The Moroccan is a tenacious and aggressive enforcer in the middle of the park and has done well at Fiorentina, despite them not being in contention for any major titles.

However, the Viola have made it to the UEFA Europa Conference League final and will face West Ham United in the Czech Republic. It will be interesting to see how the 26-year-old will perform against a PL outfit.

Man United signed Casemiro last summer. The Brazil international has cemented his place in the Red Devils’ starting lineup this season. Erik ten Hag has counted on the 31-year-old in the number six position.

Without the former Real Madrid star, the Old Trafford side have struggled on several occasions. We seemingly lack quality cover in the defensive midfield position, with Fred and Scott McTominay in our ranks. Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are more attack-minded in their style of play.

Amrabat has proven his talent at the club level and was also brilliant for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup. But will the 26-year-old’s signature be pursued by the Manchester-based club in the coming weeks? Only time will tell.
