Manchester United ready to pay Harry Maguire £10 million to leave next summer

Manchester United are ready to pay Harry Maguire £10 million to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Express).

The England international is expected to part ways with the Red Devils next summer after falling down the pecking order since Erik ten Hag’s arrival. To that end, the Old Trafford side are willing to facilitate a move away.

At the moment, the centre-back earns £190,000 a week at United. The Manchester-based club feel no other team would pay the defender as much. Thus, with around two years still left on the 30-year-old’s contract, the Red Devils could consider giving him a payout.

In the summer of 2019, the Old Trafford side signed Maguire from Leicester City for £80 million. Now, they are open to taking a massive loss on the defender and have placed a price tag of £30 million on him.

The English national has struggled to keep a hold of his place in the team over the last few months. Since last season, the centre-back has been putting in some worrying performances.

As a result, Erik ten Hag’s arrival saw the captain fighting for a place in the team. The 30-year-old has failed to put in encouraging displays.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have been the gaffer’s preferred duo in the backline in the current campaign. The two have formed a solid partnership in defence for United.

In recent weeks, even the likes of Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw have been selected to play centrally ahead of Maguire. Our skipper seems to be in the final stretch of his stint at the Manchester-based club.
