Manchester United ‘ready to accept’ summer offer for Anthony Martial

Manchester United are ‘ready to accept’ an offer and part ways with Anthony Martial in the upcoming transfer window, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The France international is expected to leave the Red Devils next summer. At the start of the year, the Old Trafford side were set on their intentions to sell the former AS Monaco star.

In the current campaign, the 27-year-old has struggled for consistency. His current contract with the Manchester-based club is set to expire at the end of the upcoming campaign.

United signed Martial in the summer of 2015. Back then, the French national was a promising prospect and had been influential for Monaco in Ligue 1.

Unfortunately, over the course of his stint at the Red Devils, the striker has been unable to fulfill his potential. Over the last few years, the 27-year-old also has not played much football for the Old Trafford side.

Last season, after Martial had lost his place in the team, the forward joined Sevilla on loan in the winter window. But his stint in Andalusia was disappointing as well.

In the current campaign, the French national has seemingly found his feet under Erik ten Hag. However, the striker has been marred by constant injuries.

Martial has done well when the Dutch manager has been able to call on him. But those moments have been few and far between. The 27-year-old has been unable to complete the full 90 minutes in any of the matches this season.

The forward will also miss the FA Cup final against Manchester City on 3 June. As things stand, we have the French national and Wout Weghorst as our only two natural strikers. But if we get in a quality number nine next summer, it would be wise to part ways with the former Monaco star.
