Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has identified Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby as a replacement for Anthony Martial, according to Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).

The Dutch manager has decided to acquire the France international’s services to replace the former AS Monaco striker. Xabi Alonso has relied on the 23-year-old heavily in the attack this season.

Diaby made his way through the youth ranks at Paris Saint-Germain. In the summer of 2019, the right-winger moved to Leverkusen and has since been ever-present in their starting lineup.

Since the previous campaign, the French national has developed a keen eye for goal. This season, in 48 appearances in all competitions, the forward has found the back of the net 14 times and has provided 11 assists.

At United, the right-hand side of the attack has been occupied by Antony since Ten Hag’s arrival. The Dutch manager reunited with the Brazil international, signing him from Ajax last summer.

The 23-year-old started his career at the Old Trafford side in electric fashion. However, fitness issues and a lack of consistency have hampered the forward’s campaign.

We also seemingly do not have an adequate backup for Antony. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho have all mostly thrived on the left wing.

As for Martial, he has been injury-prone for most of the campaign. The 27-year-old has been on the sidelines a lot ever since Ten Hag took charge of United. Ahead of the FA Cup final, the French national once again picked up a knock and will not be involved in the game against Manchester City.

Diaby is evidently someone the Red Devils could do with to add depth to the squad. However, it remains to be seen whether Leverkusen will opt to part ways with one of their main stars.
