Premier League rivals Arsenal are eyeing a move for Manchester United target and Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae, according to 90min (h/t Express).

The Gunners are looking to add reinforcements to their backline in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the South Korea international has popped up on their radar.

However, the Partenopei are hoping to keep hold of the defender. The Serie A giants want the 26-year-old to sign a new contract before the release clause, which is between £35–£52 million, in his existing deal kicks in next summer.

Min-jae has been pivotal to Napoli’s success in the current campaign. He has admirably replaced Kalidou Koulibaly in the Naples-based club’s backline after the Senegal international’s transfer to Chelsea last summer.

The Partenopei have won the league title for the first time in over three decades this season. Luciano Spalletti’s team have been impressive in the 2022/23 term, with the South Korean being a cog in their team.

Arsenal have relied on Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba for most of the campaign. However, after the French national’s fitness issues, Mikel Arteta’s team slipped up in the PL title race.

As for United, our backline has found a quality partnership in Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez under Erik ten Hag. However, in their absence, the team have looked a bit shaky.

Harry Maguire has failed to instil confidence when he has featured. Victor Lindelof has done well on occasions, but he has fallen down the pecking order.

Therefore, our skipper and the Sweden international deciding to part ways with the club next summer would not be unthinkable. But it will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be able to get ahead of the Old Trafford side in the race for Min-jae.
