Manchester United target Dusan Vlahovic is not for sale as per Juventus chief Francesco Calvo
Juventus chief of footballing operations Francesco Calvo has confirmed that Manchester United target and Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic is not for sale.
Along with the Red Devils, Chelsea were interested in the former Fiorentina marksman, who is currently leading the line in Turin.
It is revealed that Vlahovic wants to move away from Juventus, who are currently out of the Champions League spots in the Serie A after getting a 10-point deduction on Monday before they got thrashed 4-1 by Empoli.
Here’s what Calvo said when asked about the future of the Serbian number nine (h/t DAZN, via Metro):
“Rumours are not something we can control, but the transfer market hasn’t even opened yet. Dusan is not for sale. We are satisfied with the effort he puts in, although everyone in life can do better.”
The 23-year-old ignored an offer from Arsenal last January before making a move to the Old Lady. He has scored only 14 goals in 42 games in all competitions playing in an underwhelming Juve side under Max Allegri.
If we take Calvo’s words as the final verdict, that is one striking target down for United. Erik ten Hag has stressed that the club needs to sign a number nine in the coming summer transfer window.
Harry Kane was earmarked as the primary target, but it won’t be easy given the complicated situation at Tottenham Hotspur. Atalanta’s young striker Rasmus Hojlund is being looked at, while the club remains hopeful of signing Victor Osimhen.
Apart from Marcus Rashford, United have struggled for goal contributions from other forwards who are supposed to put the ball in the back of the net. The likes of Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst have just not been good enough when asked to lead the line. The latter offers more off the ball but that is not going to cut it here.
