Manchester United midfielder Ethan Galbraith to leave Old Trafford next summer
As per his Instagram post (h/t Sunderland Echo), young Manchester United midfielder Ethan Galbraith is set to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.
The 22-year-old will be a free agent in the summer transfer window and is attracting interest from Sunderland and Newcastle United. The latter are almost certain to be playing Champions League football next season. Lower-tier clubs Stoke City and Derby County are also keeping an eye on him.
Galbraith was signed by United from the Linfield U19 in the summer of 2017. The Northern Ireland international went through the youth ranks here before making a season-long loan move to Doncaster Rovers in 2021. He is currently on loan at Salford City before becoming a free agent in the summer.

The former Linfield player is a right-footed midfielder who can play in multiple positions there. It has been an even spread for him when it comes to being used either as a central or defensive midfielder.
His only appearance for the United senior team came during the 2019/20 season in a Europa League game against FC Astana. He came on for a two-minute substitute appearance (Transfermarkt).
At his age, Galbraith should be playing regular football with a club that employs him rather than going out on loan. The hope would be that someone picks him up in the summer.

For United, an important summer transfer window is coming. Erik ten Hag would want backing from the board to help him sign his top targets. With the takeover saga still going on, whether that would affect the transfer business the club can do, remains to be seen.
