Chelsea ‘lining up’ move for Manchester United target and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

Premier League rivals Chelsea are ‘lining up’ a move for Manchester United target and Napoli star Victor Osimhen, according to The Guardian.

Mauricio Pochettino is set to be appointed the new manager of the Blues. As such, the Argentine head coach wants to bolster the Stamford Bridge side’s forward line with a number nine.

Chelsea will look to acquire the services of a prolific striker in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the Nigeria international has been on their radar for some time now. The West London club also want a new goalkeeper and are keen to make additions to the middle of the park.

Osimhen has been in fine form this season. The 24-year-old has inspired the Naples-based club to their first Scudetto in over three decades after securing the Serie A title in the current campaign.

As a result, the Partenopei will likely demand a massive price tag to part ways with the Nigerian, who is also attracting interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

United also have Osimhen on their radar. However, the former LOSC Lille star is not the Red Devils’ priority, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane the club’s main target ahead of next summer.

The Old Trafford side have had to rely on Marcus Rashford for the majority of the campaign to find the back of the net. Apart from the 25-year-old, none of our other forwards has contributed considerably up front.

Unfortunately, the England international has had to shoulder the burden of our attack. Erik ten Hag has been unable to rely on Anthony Martial this season due to his fitness issues.

Therefore, we evidently require a potent number nine in our ranks. But will Pochettino’s arrival at Chelsea make them challenge United for the Nigerian’s signature? Only time will tell.
