Brentford shot-stopper David Raya and FC Porto’s Diogo Costa have been identified by Manchester United as the possible successors to David de Gea, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required) [h/t Metro].

The 32-year-old’s current contract at the Old Trafford side is set to expire at the end of the season. However, the Spaniard is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal soon.

But at the same time, the Red Devils are also looking for replacements for the former Atletico Madrid star. He has made a number of errors in the current campaign.

Raya is one of the names being eyed by United. The Spain international will enter the final year of his contract at the Bees next season. However, the goalkeeper is not keen on extending his stay at the Gtech Community Stadium side.

As a result, the West London club are open to the 27-year-old’s departure in the upcoming transfer window. But Thomas Frank’s team will not accept anything less than £35 million.

On the other hand, Costa is also a target for the Red Devils. The Portugal international has been impressive at Porto this season. In the current campaign, the 23-year-old has attracted a lot of people’s eyes with his displays.

Both Raya and Costa are good with the ball at their feet. However, the same cannot be said of De Gea, who leaves a lot to be desired with his distribution.

Erik ten Hag seemingly wants the team to play from out the back. But, in that regard, the 32-year-old has showcased his frailties on a number of occasions this season.

Also, the Spaniard does not face a lot of competition from Tom Heaton and Jack Butland. Hopefully, if the Old Trafford side sign a quality goalkeeper next summer, that will give the former Atletico star the motivation to be at the top of his game.
