Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has urged the club to not go for Brazilian superstar Neymar

Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha while speaking to Betfred (h/t Manchester Evening News) admits that Neymar would be an excellent addition to the Premier League but does not want Manchester United to go for the Brazilian.

Neymar is being linked with a move away from Paris St. Germain with the hierarchy there conceding that the trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi can not work together.

It was also claimed that if Qatar’s bid for United is successful, they would enter the market to sign Neymar as the first marquee signing of their reign.

Saha, however, believes that United should not go for the winger because of the media attention that the player will receive if he makes a move.

“It would be great for the Premier League to have Neymar playing in England because he’s such a terrific player. He’s very entertaining to watch but I can understand the question marks that can come from having a player like Neymar at your club.

I’m just a big fan of the player on the pitch but I don’t believe he’s lived up to expectations in his last three or four seasons with PSG. I wouldn’t want to see him in a Manchester United shirt considering the exaggerated media attention a superstar like him would attract.

The team structure is so important and still fragile at times. But I certainly believe he’d be a great addition to the Premier League.”

While it would be good to see how Neymar fares in the Premier League, Saha’s assessment of the situation is just about right. We are finally on the right track under Erik Ten Hag and he has built a sense of comrade and team spirit around the squad which was missing for years.

Transfer News: Manchester United will not target PSG star Neymar this summer.

Although it feels like a long time ago, the saga involving Cristiano Ronaldo was just a few months ago and it definitely took a toll on the performance of the whole team. More often than not, in the current scenario, the signing of a superstar past his prime never truly works, We have seen many examples of that in the previous years to make the same mistake again.

At the same time, we are pretty stacked with the left wing position with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho all comfortable to play from the left. If we do end up signing a proper striker, Rashford will move to his preferred left while Sancho and Garnacho’s development could take a halt if Neymar is signed.

Hence, it would be better to stay away from this deal and invest the money in areas that the team needs to upgrade and be in a position to challenge for the title. Neymar is also 31 and injury prone. There is no point taking this risk.
