Tottenham Hotspur join Manchester United in race for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha
Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have joined Manchester United in the race for Fulham star Joao Palhinha, according to Football Insider (h/t The Sun).
Spurs are ready to make an offer for the Portugal international. Chelsea, another London outfit, also have the midfielder on their radar ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
However, the Red Devils have an advantage over the other two English top-flight sides. The Old Trafford side are in a comfortable position at the moment to finish in the top four and get Champions League football.
As for Tottenham, they are a few points behind United in the table. They have endured a disappointing season, parting ways with Antonio Conte and then Cristian Stellini. We also have two games in hand over the North London side.
Spurs signed Yves Bissouma last summer. However, the former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder has been underwhelming for them. The Lilywhites also have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who can play in the number six position.
As for United, we signed Casemiro in the summer of 2022 from Real Madrid. The 31-year-old has been a revelation for the Old Trafford side in the middle of the park.
The Brazil international has brought stability and tenacity to the Red Devils’ engine room. Without the defensive midfielder, the Manchester-based club have not looked their best under Erik ten Hag.
Palhinha has caught a lot of people’s attention with his displays in the PL. In the 27-year-old’s debut campaign in the English top flight, he has been one of the best midfield enforcers.

Having Scott McTominya and Fred backing up Casemiro is seemingly not adequate. However, will Palhinha opt to join Tottenham instead of playing second fiddle to Casemiro at the Old Trafford side? Only time will tell.
