Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw injury not ‘serious’
Luke Shaw, who was substituted in the 1-0 Manchester United win over Brentford due to a potential injury, does not have a ‘serious’ problem, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t Manchester Evening News].
The 27-year-old’s issue is not deemed to be a considerable setback. Erik ten Hag only took a precaution by taking the left-back off the field of play in the first half.
In the 37th minute of the game against the Bees at Old Trafford, the England international was replaced by Tyrell Malacia. Thankfully, it looks like the defender will be fine.
Shaw recently signed a new four-year contract at United, keeping him at the club at least until the summer of 2027. Therefore, it is evident that the Dutch manager counts on the left-back for the future.
The 27-year-old made his way to the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2014. Over the years, the defender has experienced many ups and downs in Manchester.
However, the England international has found his feet under the former Ajax head coach. In the 2022 World Cup, he also shone for Gareth Southgate’s team as they reached the quarter-finals in Qatar.
At the start of the campaign, some poor displays saw Shaw lose his place in the starting lineup. As a result, Malacia was given an opportunity. However, the 27-year-old quickly regained his place in the pecking order.
This season, the England international has been key to our success. He has made 37 appearances in all competitions for United, scoring one goal and providing six assists.
