Borussia Dortmund want to extend contract of Manchester United target Gregor Kobel
Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund ‘would like to’ extend the contract of Manchester United target Gregor Kobel, according to German outlet Blick (h/t Mirror).
The Switzerland international’s current contract with BVB is set to expire in the summer of 2026. However, a number of top teams are eyeing the 25-year-old’s services.
In pursuit of a shot-stopper, the Red Devils have already ‘expressed an interest’ in Kobel. However, Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing the goalkeeper’s services.
Dortmund are looking to fend off other clubs. However, the 25-year-old is seeking new terms that would see him earn almost thrice his existing €3 million salary.
Therefore, if the Bundesliga outfit are unable to come to an agreement with the Swiss national, they expect to get anywhere between £35.2–£44 million for him.
At the moment, De Gea is the number one at United. The Spain international has been one of our best players since last season. Erik ten Hag has stuck with him in between the sticks.
However, while the 32-year-old is a brilliant shot-stopper, he leaves a lot to be desired with the ball at his feet. Therefore, his distribution is seemingly a hindrance to the Dutch manager’s style of play at the Old Trafford side.
